Charleston, with a pool of your own.

History, Carefully Kept

Same family. Same standards. A deep respect for Charleston's history.

You may know us from Smalls Alley, our hidden enclave of homes a few blocks away. Spring & Cannon carries the same philosophy to two of downtown Charleston's most storied streets: historic houses thoughtfully restored, not rebuilt, with their original character preserved at every turn, and each wrapped around a private saltwater pool. The same plush beds, the same full kitchens and generous gathering spaces, the same care in every detail, in homes that have watched over these streets for generations.

Spring & Cannon. Where Charleston comes home to swim.

The Spring & Cannon Experience

A whole house, a private pool, and room for everyone.

A pool of your own

Both houses have private saltwater pools used only by your group. The Mint Julep pool stretches 26 by 14 feet, the largest private pool in Charleston's short term rental zone. Heating is available in the cooler months for $50 per night.

Space no hotel can offer

Entire standalone houses with four to six bedrooms, full kitchens, living and dining spaces that seat your whole group, in-home laundry, and private outdoor spaces with a gas grill.

Porch living, perfected

Morning coffee on the front porch, sunset drinks on the balcony, supper by the pool. Sundance has porches front and back plus a second floor balcony; Mint Julep has grand double porches running front to back.

Effortless arrival

Free off-street driveway parking at both houses, three dedicated spaces at Mint Julep, plus keypad self check-in with a private entrance and complimentary high speed internet.

Dogs are family too

Both houses welcome up to two well-mannered dogs, so nobody gets left behind. Just add your pup when you book, and bring the leash for Charleston's most walkable neighborhood.

Historic houses, faithfully preserved

Classic Charleston architecture, restored with a preservationist's care: vaulted ceilings and exposed brick at Sundance, heart pine floors and a grand staircase at Mint Julep, original character kept intact throughout.

The best night of sleep

A third of your stay is spent in bed, so we made it count. Kings and queens dressed in professionally laundered, supremely soft 100% cotton linens, with plush cotton towels in every bathroom, so you wake truly rested and ready for another Charleston day.

The Houses

Two residences. Two street corners. Two pools.

The Sundance Residence

50 Spring Street · 1 Block to King
4 Bedrooms · 2.5 Baths · Sleeps 9 · Private Saltwater Pool

Sundance is the house that taught us to love mornings. A classic Charleston single, beautifully renovated with vaulted ceilings, exposed brick and hardwood floors, one block from King Street's restaurants and shops. The open living space gathers everyone around a marble-topped chef's kitchen with a large island, a dining table for six and bar seating for the grazers.

Upstairs, the primary suite opens onto its own balcony and a private ensuite with double sinks and a glass walk-in shower. Two queen bedrooms and a twin room for younger travelers round out the four bedrooms, every one with its own TV.

And then there is the backyard: a brand new private saltwater pool beneath a hand-painted sunrise, with lounge seating, a back porch and a gas grill for long golden-hour dinners.

The Mint Julep Residence

129 Cannon Street · Cannonborough
6 Bedrooms · 5 Baths · Sleeps 12 · The Largest Private Pool Downtown

Mint Julep is the house for the whole crew. Six bedrooms and five baths across two graceful stories, with double porches running front to back the way Charleston intended. Two primary suites with king beds and private ensuites mean nobody argues over the best room, joined by a third king and three queen bedrooms dressed in the same plush linens.

Downstairs, the julep-green kitchen is the heart of the house: fully equipped with a gas range, a peninsula with seating for four and a dining table for six, opening to a living room that seats all twelve of you. A first floor laundry room and three off-street parking spaces keep the practical side effortless.

Out back, the garden is the showstopper: a 26 by 14 foot heated saltwater pool, the largest private pool in Charleston's short term rental zone, ringed by palms, sun loungers and umbrellas, with a gas grill and dining under the sky.

A Note From Our Family

The same family, a few blocks over.

Spring & Cannon is a family owned lifestyle project, the sister to our hidden enclave at Smalls Alley. We grew up in hospitality families, so building, designing and operating beautiful places is simply what we love to do. If Smalls Alley is our French Mediterranean daydream, Spring & Cannon is our love letter to the Lowcountry summer: wide porches, garden pools, and a cold drink in the shade of a palm.

We keep things serene on purpose, with just the right social buzz. Quiet hours run from 10 PM to 8 AM, we never crowd our homes, and we hold to one house rule above all: love and respect thy neighbor. Your dogs are welcome too, because ours go everywhere with us.

These houses are for those who like everything walkable, a little off the beaten path, and the finer creature comforts in life, with a swim at the end of the day. Rest deeply, explore beautifully, and make yourself at home.

With love,
The Family Behind Smalls Alley

"Whether you are gathering the whole family, hosting friends, or celebrating something worth remembering, Spring & Cannon offers Charleston the way it was meant to be enjoyed: on a porch, by your own pool, beautifully and privately your own."
